Absolutely agree with this…

jenajean:

Recently, I talked with a friend who is upset that her own sister didn’t come to her husband’s memorial service. Yes, the service was in another state and the sister was working a part-time job and busy with a new grandbaby. Still, my friend reasoned, her sister could have come if she’d really…

Very inspiring Mr. Jacobs!

Perhaps you have heard about this groundswell of goodwill. Folks walking into mass merchants- the most frequency seems to be at KMart- and anonymously paying off Layaway accounts.

Have to admit, I liked the idea so well, I did it myself yesterday.

I liked it even better AFTER I did it. In…

I couldn’t agree more with Jeff. This is a clear and major #fail by the Cowboys.

jeffjacobs:

You may have seen South Carolina native Melissa Kellerman and the beginning of her 15 minutes of fame during Thursday’s Cowboys-Dolphins game.

It was a harmless incident, and Kellerman, in her fourth year with the team, was a really good sport about it. TE Jason Witten was a gentleman in…

A great illustration to share on Veterans Day! My friend Sheri Fox sent it to me… Enjoy.

Great thoughts by @jenajean. We all need to keep this in mind!

So I’ve been consulting the past couple of years, but I’d really like something more permanent—preferably a full-time position that makes good use of my 20+ years in marketing communications, while indulging my curiosity and desire to keep learning. Yes, I’d like a consistent income. But…

So very true…

There’s no need to tread once again here on the facts of the child sex-abuse scandal that has wiped any happiness out of State College, PA. The most delicate of children the victim of a predator. The significant lack of reporting of that activity that brought down a coaching legend, a university…

Great @VirginAmerica service…

The people of @VirginAmerica were amazing yesterday. My wife and I were set to board a flight from SFO, with a bag checked, when we got a call about a dog emergency that called for us to stay home. From the gate agent to the front desk and baggage claims people each person who helped us was wonderful, and we were a bit stressed.

I cannot thank all of you enough! Everyone did and said the right things and went above and beyond what was necessary to help.

I’ll be back tomorrow for my rebooked flight. I’m hoping to see some of you so I can say thank you again in person. You were the bright spot in a difficult day. And I have my fingers crossed that an aisle seat opens up… :)

Again, thanks caring and taking care of business.

Loved this email from a friend…

“The English language has some wonderfully anthropomorphic collective nouns for the various groups of animals. We are all familiar with a Herd of cows, a Flock of chickens, a School of fish and a Gaggle of geese.

“However, less widely known is a Pride of lions, a Murder of crows (as well as their cousins the rooks and ravens), an Exaltation of doves and, presumably because they look so wise, a Parliament of owls.

“Now consider a group of Baboons. They are the loudest, most dangerous, most obnoxious, most viciously aggressive and least intelligent of all primates. And what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons?

“Believe it or not…, a Congress! I guess that pretty much explains the things that come out of Washington!”

With apologies to Baboons everywhere, I certainly hope that things will improve when Congress returns from its break. We the people deserve better than what we’re getting.

This is an excellent post about keeping things in perspective…

Despite the headline, this really isn’t about my relationship with one of the greatest newscasters of all time.

“And That’s The Way It Is” was his signature signoff, whether it was after crying announcing the JFK assassination or rooting for Apollo as it left the moon’s surface. He even…

This is scary stuff.

If you’re wondering which Indiana agency regulates the massive stage rigging at the State Fairgrounds, the answer is apparently none of them.

If you’re wondering how often the structures are inspected by the government, the answer is apparently never.

Excellent article from the Indianapolis Star today on gaps clearly left open that could have led to the stage collapse Saturday that killed 5 people, including two working on the stage.
